When Mom came to visit last weekend, I wanted to send her home with something special. I knit up several of these wash/dish cloths last fall in bright, fun colors using Peaches n Creme and the baby burp-cloth pattern from Mason-Dixon Knitting. I quickly wove in the loose ends, took a quick picture, and packed them in her bag for the trip home. Pictured here are three of the “Ombre” colors. From top to bottom: Fiesta Ombre, Mardi Gras, and Pink Lemonade.
When I realized Mom would be coming for a visit, I sent her a camera so she could photograph some of the knitted gifts I’ve made for her. I wanted to be able to show off some of the finished objects I’m proudest of, like the Icarus shawl I made last year. Mom fancies herself a frustrated photographer (and some of her pictures are amazing) so I had high hopes for beautiful close-ups of finished objects. Here’s what she sent:
Now, I totally get that maybe she didn’t know exactly what I had in mind when I asked for knitting pictures, but I have to admit I was hoping for something that showed of the knitting a little bit more. Oh well! I’ll just have to take better photos myself next time I visit her.
What? What’s that? I sound a little Stepford? You want to know about the visit? You want me to share a little? Well, on the off chance that my Mother ever actually reads this blog, I’m taking the Fifth. We had a great time at the garden, and several very nice meals that were just extremely pleasant, ok? Yes, glamorous and I are still on speaking terms. Everything is just fine. After hosting Mom in his new and previously unspoiled home for three nights and four days, The Baron has not decided to leave me on the basis of the visit, in spite of my, err, somewhat erratic behavior. It’s all good. And . . . and just look at the damn knitting already! Jeez, you people . . .
